call me home

when the fort of resilience and my worn out hopes start tumbling down
the dreams I put next to the stars
turn into moondust
the madness in the heart of the moon breaks free
the faith I left on a mountain’s peak forgets it way back to me
when the echoes of the screams I let out
begin to reverberate in empty rooms
and when I am tired but you’re more
of our harrowing tales that you lived
of the anger we channeled but you consumed
of the negligence that we mastered but you held
Dear earth, remind me how a dream lives, a life continues for everytime I let a flower live and anger die

when the brokenness of my heart harmonizes with the voice cracks
when words fail me, and hope frustrates me
when cohesiveness of their words fail to hold me together
when the sky turns purple while I melancholic blue
when the turbulent water turns its back on me while I wallow in its remembrance
when I want more, need less
and I cut another tree, drive another mile to build another house
only to realise you’re breaking loose, smoke smothering you, there aren’t enough roots to hold you together
when there’s isn’t enough air for you to breathe
dear Earth, tell me to stop and stay

when gravity breaks me free and I fall in your lap
revolt and remind me of my selfishness
ask me to bend a little forward and tell me to listen
to tales about the gunfire and missiles, wails and cries
subdued hearts and discredited dreams, last prayers and whispered secrets
when you have had heard enough and want to burst open
dear earth, lend me a story every Wednesday and I will give you the promise to keep it alive

when you have borne enough love
or when you want someone to grow love for you
when you have borne enough dreams
or you wish someone to put you to sleep
dear earth, call me home
